VERTICES has a strong record in GIS in Health Care. Using our unique interactive mapping technology with open source technology, VERTICES has served several nationally recognized health care organizations in both the public health and health care provider sectors. Recently, VERTICES has explored many potential aspects of community mapping to promote healthy lifestyles to reduce obesity rates.


Here are some examples of our latest projects:

  • Woodbridge Township Walkability Audit
    Woodbridge elementary school students and their families took part in an audit which focused on creating safer routes to local schools while also logging the distance they covered with pedometers and promoting town walkability.
  • Warren Hospital Physician Directory
    Online physician directory using Google Maps API with public transit data. Each physician can update their own data by using secure access
  • New Jersey HIV/AIDS Resource Directory
    Locate up-to-date information on HIV/AIDS prevention, assistance,and treatment centers throughout New Jersey.
  • Healthy New Brunswick Food Choice
    Mapping healthy food choices for New Brunswick, based on community paticipatory GIS. All restaurants, grocery stores, and other eateries were rated based upon the healthy options they provided to customers.
  • Garfield Interactive Community Mapping Projects
    A project created to help lower the childhood obesity rate in Garfield, NJ by hosting events, offering health and nutrition counseling, and learning more about the problem through the use of interactive maps.
